Identifying John Railtonne as father of John Ralton is based on research by The Scots' Ancestry Research Society, commissioned by Ralston descendant Blake Rutledge of Alberta, Canada. They speculated that it is likely that John Railtonne was the father of John Ralton but found insufficient records to establish proof. Without such proof, it is prudent to conclude that John Ralton, b. ca 1685, is the earliest known ancestor of our Ralston line, and John Railtonne's name is included here only for possible future investigation.¹
