Enlisted in Her Majesty's regiment of Royal Artillery in 1798 and served 20 years, 10 years of foreign service in the West Indies. He was discharged May 23, 1819, with rank of Captain. His pension was commuted for a cash payment and he went, or was sent, to Canada in 1832 to settle.
