Susan O. Tuve1,2
F, b. circa 1860, d. 22 April 1933
She was born circa 1860 at Minnesota.3 She married Nels E. Quickstad.4 She died on 22 April 1933 at Deuel Co., South Dakota.5
Although confirming evidence has not yet been found, it is most likely that Susan Tuve is the same person as Susie Tuff, shown as 8 yrs old in the 1870 US Census of Minnesota, Fillmore County, Rushford Twp, living in the household of Ole and Martha Tuff, originally from Norway. Two pieces of circumstantial information support the theory. First, the earliest appearance of the surname "Quickstad" in the US Census was in 1880 with 3 families in Bloom Twp, Deuel Co., DT, and one in Rushford Twp, Fillmore Co., MN. Although we don't know for certain, it is likely that the two groups were related. Secondly, there was a N.E. Quickstad who applied for Naturalization in Fillmore Co., MN. These facts suggest that Nels may have been of the Quickstad family living in MN, in close proximity to Susie Tuff, and they later moved to SD to join relatives there.6,7 Her name was shown as Sussie in the 1880 US Census, Seneva in the 1900 US Census, and Suie in the 1920 US Census.8,3,9
