Jane Liddle1,2,3,4
F, b. 1785, d. 11 June 1862
She was born in 1785. From later census information, Jane was born in Washington County, NY, perhaps in Hebron Twp. She moved to Hartford Twp. about 1805, probably coincidental with her marriage to David Graham.5,6,1,7
She married David Graham, son of (?) Graham and Martha (?), circa 1805.8,9,10 She died on 11 June 1862 at Hartford, Washington Co., New York.11,1,12 She was buried at West Hartford Cemetery, Hartford Twp, Washington Co., New York. Her tombstone inscription reads, " Jane, wife of David Graham, Died June 11, 1862, AE 77 Yrs - There is rest in Heaven."13
Jane Liddle was also known as Jane Riddell/ Riddle.14,15 She and David Graham appeared on the census of 1810 at Hartford, Washington Co., New York; In the 1810 U.S. Census, the David In the 1810 US Census, the David Graham household shows 1 male 45 & over (David, age 53 at the time), 3 males under 10 (David's sons John, David and Robert), 1 female 26-45 (David's wife, Jane), 1 female 10-16 (identity unknown, presumably the same person shown in the 1800 census as age 0-10), and 2 others (probably David's mother, Martha, and brother, John).16 Following David's death in 1827, she was listed as head of household in the 1830 U.S. Census. She had an adult son, John, a teenage son and three young daughters, plus her brother-in-law, John Graham, living with her.
By 1840, her son, John had taken over as head of household. Beside her and John, her three youngest daughters, now teenagers, still lived with her, as did her brother-in-law, John Graham.
By 1850, she had moved in with another of her sons, Joseph, probably in 1848 to care for the baby after the death of Joseph's wife, Edna, following childbirth. In 1855, the NY State Census shows her still living with Joseph, but she is not listed in the 1860 U.S. Census.17,18,19
